Mr. Anthony "Tony” Dewayne Gresham was the third born to the late Robert Gresham Jr and Jennie Gresham. On December 30,1959 in Jacksonville, FL. In 1977 Tony graduated from Jean Ribault Senior High School. Upon graduation from high school, Tony attended Florida A&M University on a Baseball Scholarship.
Tony was later drafted after his sophomore year and his Junior year by the Oakland A’s but decline both offer in order to continue his education.
One of Tony greatest achievement was back to back stolen base leader of the FAMU Rattlers Baseball Team during the 1979 and 1980 seasons. He was ranked sixth in the nation in stolen bases by The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The FAMU Teams that beat the Miami Hurricanes in 1979 and 1980 seasons. He later joined the Army in the late 80’s.
Tony was known for his smile and sweet spirit. He was on loaned to us for 58 years on this earth. Tony will be sorely missed; we know that he is at rest. He was employed by Roof Max Roofing as a senior sales manager. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and had a deep abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Family and Baseball.
Mourning his loss is his children, daughters, Jennifer Gresham-Weaver (Timothy) and Tirerri Anderson; sons, Sir Hemphill, Brandon Skeith and Brian Skeith (Mindi); brothers, Robert Gresham III (Gloria), Gregory Gresham (Madelyn) and Darryl Gresham; uncles, Blease Odom Jr., Lloyd Odom and Larry Gresham (Cheryl); aunts, Martha Johnson and Luegiua Hadley; great aunt, Helen Singletary; numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and loyal devoted friends.
