Sergeant Major Calvin Flemming, Sr. was born on May 9, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida to proud parents Essie Waters and George Flemming who preceded him death. He attended a local elementary school and moved to New York with his sister, Jessie Mae Walker to attend A. L. Lewis High School.
After high school he joined the United States Marines. He also met and married his wife, Delories Flemming until her death in 1999. After his 30 admirable years in service for our country he decided to retire.
Calvin passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 with his family and friends at his bedside. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one sister; and four brothers.
He is survived by three children, Lorrie Flemming, Rose Mary Griffin and Calvin Flemming, Jr.; sister, Mary Pendleton; sister-in-law, Helen Wright; six grandchildren, Meredith, Inas, Karim, Tiffany, Calvin III and Jarrett; and a slew of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
