Carlice Titus McClendon

October 4, 1935 ~ August 10, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Carlice T. McClendon transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, August 10, 2018. He was born to Willie and Corrie McClendon in October 4, 1935 in Nahunta, Georgia and was raised in Blackshear, Georgia. He was the youngest of 13 children. He graduated from Lee Street High School in 1954.

He soon joined the United States Army and spent 3 years serving and then married his high school sweetheart, Armenus Williams. They had one daughter, Gwendolyn McClendon.

He worked for the city of Jacksonville for several years at the Sewage and Police Department.  He became the first black U.S. Deputy Marshal in the state of Florida. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Sickle Disease of North Florida Chapter.   

Mr. McClendon was predeceased by his daughter, Gwendolyn McClendon-Caldwell; grandson, Carlice Antonio Caldwell; parents Willie and Corrie McClendon; and 12 siblings.

He was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Aloysious Denard until the time of his passing.

Mr. McClendon leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 64 years, Armenus McClendon; grandsons, George Jalan Caldwell and Titus Laudred Caldwell (Chynell); 10 great grandchildren; several in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
