Debra Arzuaga Obituary

Mrs. Debra Diana Brown Arzuaga, daughter of the late Opal Lee Brown Edwards and Curtis Middleton was born on October 7, 1957 in Canton Mississippi. Debra grew up in Chicago, Illinois where she attended John Hinton Grammar School, Yale Middle School and Mount Vernon Middle School. She attended and graduated from John Marshall Harlan High School in 1975.  While in high school, she actively participated on Harlan’s Synchronized Swim Team and the Varsity Cheerleader Team. From 1975-1977, Debra attended Suomi College in the upper peninsula of Hancock Michigan.

In 1978, Debra enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an Aviation Clerk. While serving in the military, she met and married Edwin Arzuaga and had four beautiful children together, Aja Raquel, Amber Jaseida, Edwin Manuel and Armando Gabriel.

Debra was a strong leader to her siblings and friends, who provided encouragement and support throughout her life.  Her cousins and peers admired her. Debra’s influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Debra quietly departed the life on Friday, March 15, 2019 in Orange Park, Florida. Her mother, Opal Edwards; and father, Curtis Middleton, preceded her in death.

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Aja Arzuaga, Amber Arzuaga, Edwin Arzuaga and Armando Arzuaga; her granddaughters, Brianna Henderson and Nyssa Henderson; her five brothers and two sister-in-law, Darrell Brown of Chicago, IL, Howard Edwards (Nikki) of Chicago, IL, Harold Edwards (Sheila) of Austin, TX, Herman Edwards of Minnesota, MN and Desmond Edwards of Chicago, IL; aunts, Imogene Brown of Jacksonville, FL and Verna Whitehead of Canton, MS; and devoted family members and friends.
