Dorothy Lee WilliamsJune 4, 1920 ~ December 30, 2018 (age 98)
Dorothy Lee Williams was born to Nena B. Levett and Edward Lee Evans on June 4, 1920 and departed this life on December 30, 2018. She was one of nine children, all including Illinois Levett, Jeanette Salter and Margaret E. Haines precede her in death.
She attended Union Academy in Miami, Florida and went on to study Cosmetology at Beauty Cosmetology where she obtained her license.
On May 1, 1940 she married Alonzo Williams. Soon after the couple relocated to Queens, New York where she continued to practice cosmetology owning three beauty shops until she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1985 along with her husband Alonzo and mother who both precede her in death. She continued to practice cosmetology until her retirement.
Prior to worshipping at Wayman Temple AME Church she worshipped in New York at Tabernacle AME Church. Always known to speak her mind, she enjoyed working with her hands, fixing things around the house, gardening and playing a good game of cards.
During her final months Phillip J. Haines, her grandnephew was her care taker and for this the family is eternally grateful.
She leaves to mourn her passing, three special daughters, Wilma Cooper, Nena B. Epps and Deborah E. Haines; her three special grandsons, Noel Epps (Marie), Jason Epps (Ana) and Christopher Epps; nephew, Thomas A. Haines, Sr. (Jewel); niece, Stacey A. Haines; and a host of grand nephews, nieces all whom lovingly called her Mommy, Auntie or Nana.
She also leaves a host of friends, neighbors and special friends including, Easter Carson, Sandra Thomas, Carol Williams, Joyce Phillips and Diane Sutton Darring.
