Elder Frederick Leon Henry was born on August 22, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended different schools in Jacksonville but graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army and on July 5, 1975, he married Miss Rosalind Delores White.
He received salvation on the first Sunday in 1979. Soon after that he was called into the ministry. His first pastorate was church No. 2, which was restored and given the name “Love Chapel Church of God by Faith”. Eleven years later he was sent to Gross Church of God by Faith in Sandhill, Florida. There was a brief time of broken fellowship with Christ and the church. After God restored him to fellowship, he worked with Pastor Mary Calhoun at the mission in Folkston, Georgia.
The District Elder gave him another appointment and he asked if he could go back to Sandhill to finish where he left off. The church was restored and renamed “Shining Light Church of God by Faith.
Elder Frederick Leon Henry slept away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was preceded in death by his son, Frederick L. Henry, Jr.; his father, Rexford Newton; mothers, Annie Ruth Williams and Johnnie Mae Newton; brother, Carlton McKiver; and sister, Linda Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalind D. Henry; daughter, Jerline Jones; grandson, Centauris Simon; siblings, Rexcine Robinson (Greg), Melvin Williams (Jovette), Pamela Powell (Kevin), Carol Haywood (Edward), Rosalyn Robinson, Beverly Michael and Cleaster McKiver; in-laws, Torcine Pearson (Everette), Clarence Jones, Antionette Jones, Oscar Jones (Ann) and Joshua Jones (Ingrid); godchildren, Jason Williams, Clinton Green, Shamar Scantlebury and Stephanie Way; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and sorrowing friends.
