Eugene Thomas, Jr.

Mr. Eugene Thomas, Jr. was born on May 12, 1942 to the union of Eugene Thomas, Sr. and Rosa Hopkins Thomas. Eugene was the second born of four children. He was educated in the Nassau County Public School System where he graduated in 1960 and then enlisted in the United States Navy. After completion of his military service in 1966, Eugene was employed as a Merchant Marine with Seafarers International for forty years until his retirement in 2004.  

Eugene passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at UF Health Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Thomas, Sr.; mother, Rosa Hopkins Thomas; and sister, Roslen Morell.

He leaves to mourn his passing, a longtime companion, Brenda Hamilton; sisters, Lois Swangin (Oscar) and Geraldine Legree; nieces, Kim Lee and Barbara Hawkins; nephews, Bruce Thomas, Ralph Washington (Latisha) and Oscar Swangin (Neisha); great nieces, Kiarra Thomas, Kenndie Swangin, Myana Washington, Shawona Washington and Nevaeh Swangin; great nephews, Dominique Thomas, Travis Hutchinson, Anthony Washington, Demetrius Washington, Marcellus Swangin and Jalen Mayhew; great great nephews, Lorenzo Johnson, Jr. and Denim Thomas; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
