Evangelist Winifred Ragland Baker

October 24, 1946 ~ February 22, 2018 (age 71) 71 Years Old

On Thursday, February 22, 2018, Winifred Elaine Ragland Baker completed her earthly journey and peacefully answered her heavenly call to Glory.  Sister W. Baker was born on October 24, 1946 in Jacksonville, FL. She is the oldest of three children born to the late Samuel G. and Ruby M. Ragland. She later met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Russell Baker Jr. and from this union of over fifty years, the Lord blessed them with three wonderful sons.

Sister Baker was best known for her ever-consuming smile that would ease, calm and bring joy to any situation.  She was devoted to serving her family, friends, and anyone in need.  She was led to Christ at an early age.  However, in her later years, primarily because of physical limitations, it became extremely challenging for her to attend regular church services.  It was during this time that she began to understand and accept her missionary calling to help and serve others.  Winifred experienced her greatest joy when she was able to make her senior runs which included taking disabled seniors to doctor appointments, picking up their medications and groceries. And even extended to young people, encouraging them and helping them find employment. She provided counseling to others inspiring them to enjoy life’s precious moments and to the fullest.

She leaves to celebrate her home going and cherish her memories, her husband, Russell Baker, Jr.; sons, Larry Baker (Sena), Russell Baker, III (fiancée, Kimothy); and Sean Baker (Sonia); daughter, Ramona Baker (Douglas); her brother, Larry S. Ragland (Faye); sisters-in-Law, Eloise Rainey and Joyce Williams (Robert); nephews, Damion Jones, Larry Ragland, Jr., Sheldon Grimes and Ladevron Ragland; grandchildren, Hannah Baker, Kayleigh Baker, Arianna Baker, Brian Brown, Zachary Brown, Olivia Brown and Truman Brown; aunts, Marie Ragland and Norma McCrary; dedicated and loyal friends, Dee Callahan, Peggy Johnson and Queen King; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will remember and cherish her always.

Preceding her in death, her Father, Samuel G. Ragland; mother, Ruby M. Ragland; and sister, Dorothy V. Ragland.
