Mrs. Gloria Johnson Albertie was born on April 10, 1944 in Waycross, Georgia to the late W. T. Johnson, Sr. and Ethel Williams. She was educated in the local schools of Waycross and graduated from Center High School class of 1962. She furthered her education at Voorhees College and Albany State University.
Gloria was united in Holy Matrimony to Jonas Albertie for 50 loving years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Gloria was employed with GJEO as a Head Start Coordinator and continued to work in the childcare field until her retirement.
Gloria loved God and served faithfully as a Deaconess and on District #10 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. A. D. Denard. She loved her church family and enjoyed singing songs of Zion.
Gloria slept away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. T. Johnson, Sr. and Ethel Williams; step-mother, Willie Mae Johnson; brother, W. T. Johnson, Jr.; and sister, Mary Lou McNear.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Jonas Albertie; children, Keysha Albertie and Jonas T. Albertie; grandchildren, Kelsey Cobb, Kerim Bicer, Lauren Cobb and Asia Albertie; great-grandchild, Joannie A. Bicer; sister, Shirley E. Guinyard (William) of Barnwell, SC; uncle, Norman Johnson of Newman, GA; aunt, Helen Moss of Waycross, GA; in-laws, Flemming Albertie, Jr. (Cora), Joseph Albertie, Charles Albertie (Beverly), Cheryl Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Mae Eva Johnson, Gussie Garvin and Shirley Albertie Turner; nieces and nephews, Belinda Guinyard of Charleston, SC Rodney Guinyard (Legia) of Williston, SC, Dr. Brittany Johnson of Houston, TX, Sandra Newman and Markham Campbell; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
