Jerome Bess, Sr. Obituary

Jerome Glenn Bess, Sr., son of James William Bess and Betty Sue Bess was born May 24, 1958, in Pensacola Florida.  He was preceded in death by his brother, James W. Bess; and survived by his twin brother, Gerald Bess.

He attended local schools of Duval County and graduated from William M. Raines High School, home of the Vikings class of 1976.  Jerome enjoyed Golf and played on the Golf team at William M. Raines. He also had a passion and love for Football. He was the School’s Football Manager and a loyal fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to his loving wife of 34 years, Jacqueline Bess on July 22.  The union was blessed with three wonderful children, Jerome Bess, Jr., Jerrell Bess and Joshua Bess.

Jerome was a member of Hopewell Church for nearly a decade.  He also, served on the Armor of God Ministry and was a member of Unity Gold Small Group.   

Jerome was a Store Manager until he retired. After retirement, he volunteered his time and service in which he enjoyed at St. Vincent’s Hospital for over 10 years.

Jerome is also survived by his children, Rev. Martae Smith (Destiney), Roderick Harris (Akiko) and Adrienne Harris; grandchildren, Savion Harris, Kaiji Harris, Aila Harris and Envie Bess; brother-in-law, Jimmy Gibbs; sisters-in-law, Paulette Kennebrew (Ervin), Angela Bess (Gerald) and Regina Nelson (Cedric); nieces, Tiffany Jones (Jimmy), Tanisha Bess, Alexess Bess and Danielle McMorries; nephews, Isaac Bess, Diante Andrews and Giles Bess; and a host of other family and friends.
