A time to be Born: Jonas Vonzell Washington was born on February 10, 1982 and was the youngest of four children born to Deacon Albert Washington, Jr. and Sister Elise Washington in Jacksonville, Florida.
A time to Learn: Jonas was educated in the public schools of Duval County, Florida, graduating from Forrest High School in the year 2000. He would later study to earn an Associate’s degree in Internet Information Systems in 2004 from Remington College. Followed by a 2nd degree in Web design and Interactive Media in June 2010 from the Art Institute of Jacksonville. During his time in school Jonas earned several awards including being recognized in the top 15 teams at Jacksonville 48-hour Film Festival and being on the Presidential list. Perusing his passion of computers and web designing, Jonas became a Multimedia Manager at Xcel Testing Solutions in Jacksonville, Florida.
A time to Live: Jonas was loved by all siblings, family, co-workers. He interned with the Jacksonville Suns in 2004. He also employed in the IT Department with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008. He was quiet yet friendly and often smiling. Some even called him a “gentle giant”. In his spare time, he loved gaming and attending sports events to support his favorite teams; the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida Gators.
A time to Die: Having lost the fight to a prolonged illness on October 21, 2019, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Jason Swails (November 2, 2002); and his godfather, Samuel Roberts (August 7, 2007).
He will be dearly missed by his loving parents, Deacon & Sis. Albert Washington Jr.; siblings, Josephine Bowens of Homestead, FL, Sharon Graham of Seabrook, SC, Demetrius Washington of Lake Placid FL, SSGT Albert Washington, III (Tameka) of Ft. Jackson, SC and LaTisha McClendon of Jacksonville, FL; uncles, Joshua Jones (Eden) of Jacksonville, FL, Ernest Washington (Rosa) of Stuart Point, SC and Elroy Swails of Jacksonville, FL; aunts, Dorothy Brown, Vernell Washington of Stuart Point, SC and Annie Lee Washington of Seabrook, SC; special mentions, godmother, Sister Linda Roberts; friend, Roza and her son, Jaden. of Jacksonville; closest nieces and nephews, Keante Washington, Brian Woods, Jr., Daquries Fogle, Marquael Washington, Cheyenne Hunter, Chanel Hunter, Zakeira Washington, Jordan Washington and A’Laya Washington; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
