Larry Donnel Mason

Larry Donnel Mason, a native of Sandhill/Evergreen Community passed away at Baptist Hospital on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the age of 61. He was born on March 15, 1956 to the late Isaac Mason and Gracie Alderman Mason of Sandhill/Evergreen, Florida. He received his early education at the local schools of Nassau County and was a member of the Fernandina Beach High School class of 1975. Larry received his culinary credentials from Job Corps which lead him to pursue a career in culinary arts. He worked as a chef at Seven Springs Resort in Somerset, Pennsylvania for many years.

He was a member of St. James Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and Hospitality Committee.

Larry was a caring and devoted brother who made sure he kept his family uplifted with his witty humor. He truly warmed the hearts of everyone he met. He was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed spending time with his family. All of whom will miss him tremendously.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Mason; parents, Isaac and Gracie Mason; and brother, David Wayne Mason.

He leaves to cherish his memory; four daughters, Norma Farrell, Janessa Casey, Johnethia Casey and Jocia Casey; six brothers, Freddie Mason (Ida), John Mason (Louise), George Mason (Sydell), Otis Mason (Marie), Ozell Mason (Mary) and Darryl Mason (Dana); three sisters, Yvonne Green (Johnnie), Gloria Mason and Linda Noble; fourteen grandchildren; godsister, Michelle Brown; loyal friends, Gary Mason and Clint Jones; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowful friends.
