Lonnie Griffin Obituary

Lonnie James Griffin was born to the late Mrs. Lucille Whitty Clark and the late Mr. James Griffin on January 5, 1942 in Starks, Florida. He was the second oldest of five children.

Lonnie later moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his family. He received his education in the Duval County Public School, graduating from Stanton High School.

Lonnie met Miss Eddie Bell Bolden in high school. They dated for years. Lonnie were then United in Holy Matrimony to Eddie Bell Bolden Griffin for fifty-six years. To this union two children were born, the late Cassandra Griffin and Kimberly Griffin. Lonnie also has another daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Lloyd of Jacksonville, Florida. The BEST DAD EVER!

Lonnie was drafted into the United States Army for the Vietnam War. After returning home he attended Edward Waters College of Jacksonville, Florida.

Lonnie retired from Anheuser Busch, Inc. with 30 years of dedicated service as a Fork Lift Operator. He was a man with many good skills. His most important hobbies were reading and his puzzle books (crosswords). He also enjoyed working on cars.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Whitty Clark; father, James Griffin; daughter, Cassandra Griffin; brothers, Benjamin Easton and Bennie Clark; sister, Brenda Clark; two aunts; and two uncles.

Lonnie accepted Christ at the Second Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend James C. Sams. He was a member of District #32 Deacon Edward Bolden, Leader.

On Friday, November 22, 2019, God decided to add a beautiful Lily to His garden and he chose Lonnie. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Eddie Bell Griffin; daughters, Kimberly Griffin and Jacqueline Lloyd (Hermon); sister, Mercedes Brooks; sisters-in-law, Nita Clark, Annie Bolden, Christiane Bolden and Dianne Peterson; brothers-in-law, Sylvester Bolden (Dianne), Edward Bolden and Lester Brooks; grandchildren, Lakesha Hayward, Candace Rosemy (Osner), Cheri Randolph, James Randolph and Jessie Bobo; great grandchildren, Zachary, Christian and Jamir; two uncles and two aunts, Joe and Hilly Morrison and David and Elouise Frazier, Jr.; close cousin, David Frazier, Sr.; and a host of sorrowful nieces, nephews, cousins including, Martha DeSue, Connie DeSue, Emily Wright, and many devoted friends.
