Today we come to celebrate the life, and to pay tribute to our loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She enjoyed interacting with her neighbors and watching out for the children standing on the bus stop every morning. She was an excellent cook and willingly shared her recipes with others. In her quiet time, she loved to watch old movies and watch the cooking channel.
She was a devout Catholic and attended Immaculate Conception for many years before her health began to decline. She found strength in attending Mass weekly and reading her bible daily.
Loretta Silas Redding was born to the late Charles Silas and Bessie Habersham McKinnon. On Wednesday, August 21, 2019 surrounded by her family, she departed this life to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Maria Pearson Cole (Rev. Victor Cole) and Sharon Springfield; grandchildren, Brandon Ladson and Amira Springfield; cousin, Michael Gamble (Tina); son-in-law, Glenn Gary Springfield; stepbrother, Rayford McKinnon, Jr.; and a host of special friends and neighbors. Special thanks to her caregivers, Paula “Lynn” Gibbons, Betty Holmes and Gloria Miller.
Sarah L. Carter's Funeral Home Northside is serving the family.
