Purnell Leroy Brown affectionally known as “Booby” son of the late Walter and Carrie Mae Payton-Brown was born on September 28, 1944.
Purnell was united in Holy Matrimony to Carol C. Howard-Brown. They were members of New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Melbourne, Florida where they attended Shiloh Christian Center under the leadership of Bishop Jacquelyn Gordon, Pastor. Purnell and Carol moved to Jacksonville, Florida due to his health failing and close to family.
He graduated from Douglas Anderson High School #107 class of 1964. He served in the United Sates Army National Reserve for 26 years.
God saw fit to send His angel of death into the room of Purnell Leroy Brown with its love and tender care to relieve him from the troubles of this world. On Monday, May 7, 2018, Purnell L. Brown stepped into Glory to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Carrie Brown; siblings, Walter Lee, Douglas, Willie James, Edward, Margaret and Joanne; and in-laws, Alonzo and Dorothy Smith.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Carol C. Brown; three sons, Purnell Brown, Jr.; Samuel L. Brown (Stephanie) and Craig Brown; three daughters, Darlene Raymond (Peter), Michelle Redich (Charles) and Jemene Davis (Rory); two sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Brown and Minerva Brown; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin, classmates and loving friends.
