Rosie Lee Jones

Rosie Jones was born May 28, 1940 in Belcher, Louisiana and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. Rosie was fortunate to live in many locations throughout the United States but ultimately settled with her family in Atlantic Beach, Florida.

She worked as a paraprofessional in the Duval County School System, and specifically, at Atlantic Beach Elementary, for over 20 years.  She loved her time working with children and, undoubtedly, touched the lives of hundreds of children during her time there.  After retiring from the school system, Rosie spent her time visiting and vacationing with her family.  She continued to work at her life’s passion:  mentoring and ministering to the needs of children by, among other ways, teaching vacation bible school and donating clothes and toys to disadvantaged youth.

Rosie passed away October 23, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Rosetta Howell; her youngest daughter, Andrea Jones; and her oldest sister, Thelma Lee.

Rosie is survived by her daughters, Sandra Rosa, Yolonda Jacobs, and Azizi Jones; her son, Clarence Bobby Jones, Jr.; grandchildren, Latoya Durant, Jennifer Rosa, Riley Jacobs, and Conlon Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Smith, Joshuah Durant, and Jeremiah Durant; brother, Len Howell; sisters, Geneva Cole, Ella Howell, Pauline Howell, and Ernestine Harris; as well as a host of other relatives.
