Ruby Luvenia Shipman was born on May 6, 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Ruben Jackson and Catherine Lee.
Ruby grew up in Northwest Jacksonville and was educated in the Jacksonville Public School District. During her time in Jacksonville Ruby began to attend Glorious Bethlehem Temple where she ultimately received the Baptism in Jesus name and the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Ruby then went on to live in Rochester, New York in 1988 with her sons, Calvin Shipman and Malcolm Shipman. While in Rochester, Ruby worked at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She also became a member of the Greater Bethlehem Temple. She later became a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church. While as a member, Sister Ruby served as the church announcer, usher and the Sunday School secretary. On May 29th, 2018 Ruby retired from R. I. T. after working for 30 years.
Ruby was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Ruby made an impact where ever she went. Ruby’s smile and personality would brighten anyone’s day.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Calvin Shipman and Malcolm Shipman; six grandchildren, Darnell Shipman, Monika Shipman, Monique Shipman, Gerald Shipman, Malcolm Shipman II and Ma’Kayla Shipman; eight brothers; three sisters; and a host of loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
