Sandra Jean Dabney

Mrs. Sandra Jean Dabney, was born April 18, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to Jimmie Lee Davis, II (deceased) and Daisy (Davis) Young. She attended the public schools of Jacksonville Beach #144 and Duncan U. Fletcher Sr. High School. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Roberts Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church. She instilled the love of God in her children at an early age and raised them on Christian values and principals.

 With over 42 years of marriage; Sandra was united in holy matrimony to Sherwood “Steve” Dabney. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family especially on Sundays. They opened the doors of their home with welcoming arms to all.

Sandra was a gentle spirit that always offered a kind word, touched the lives of all she met. She enjoyed holding family functions, offering words of encouragement and spreading love to whom she encountered. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. She enjoyed traveling to the Maryland area eating crab cakes, enjoying the seasons especially when she knew the forecast called for snow, yard selling on Saturdays and spending time with her grandchildren. She quietly departed this life Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Lee Davis,II.; step father-in-law, Rev. George Young; brothers, Ronnie Davis and Jimmie Lee Davis III; mother-in-law, Maggie Eggleston; father-in-law, Bill Eggleston; and brother-in-law, Jerry Eggleston.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Sherwood “Steve” Dabney; children, Bobby Duffie (Renee), Shantay Dabney, Redesha Dabney-Johnson (Tavis) and Shanna Dabney; mother, Daisy Young; aunts, Johnnie Mae Evans and Gloria Sherman (C. B.); uncle, Earnest Davis, Sr.; sister, Brenda Smith (Joe); brothers, Michael Davis (Julie) and Ricky Davis; sisters-in-law, Maritha Richardson (Chip), Shelia Plenty (Greg) and Judy Grave (Melvin); brothers-in-law, Michael Eggleston, James Mosley, John Eggleston (June), Ronnie Eggleston (Mary), David Eggleston (Barbara) and Donnie Eggleston; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of step-siblings, god-children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
