Mother Jones was born on January 10, 1928 in Buena Vista, Georgia to Mr. Richard and Mrs. Pearl Mathis, who preceded her in death.
Mother Jones accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour in her early adult life and became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she raised her children and served the Lord faithfully, under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Clyde Jenkins and later, Bishop C. F. Bentley.
She was preceded in her death by her husband, Joe F. Jones; her oldest daughter, Gladys D. Jones-Haynes; grandson, Joseph Jones Jr.; sister, Ella Pearl Kelly King; and her brothers, Herbert Mathis and C. Mathis.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, yet rejoice in her purposeful life, all of her love-ones, seven sons, Johnny W. Jones, Joseph Jones (Ella), Richard Jones, Samuel B. Jones of Daytona Bch., Fred J. Merritt, Michael C. Merritt (Gloria) of Alaska and Lenorris Merritt; five daughters, Mary Simpo, Patricia A. Jones, Linda G. Merritt, Angelia M. Couser (Timothy Sr.) and Kathleen C. Merritt; grandchildren, John (Patrice), Patricia (Christopher), Stacey (Andrae), Vonetta, Joshua, Jeremy, Karen, Marilyn, Jonathan, Bennie (Jeanna), Maureen, Kelda (Jerrold), Londa, Richard Jr., LaTonya (Ernest), Samuel, Pierre, Kenneth, Kentisa, Latrisa, Shelina, Sha'Norrah, Christopher and Brandon; also a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great-grands, family and friends.
