Wanis Gail Winfrey was born on January 5, 1954 to Herman L. Winfrey and Gracie L. King in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Samuel W. Wolfson High.
Wanis was a Mortgage Specialist for 14 years. She was a faithful member of We’re for Jesus House of Prayer for 39 dedicated years. She served on the Usher Board, Cordial Committee, Finance Committee and the Best Sunday School Secretary.
Wanis quietly slept away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 29, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman L. Winfrey and Gracie L. King; sister, Coronia Juanita Lewis; and niece, Stacey Maria Graham.
Wanis leaves to mourn her passing but cherish her memories, her children, Elisha Winfrey (Paul), Christopher Winfrey, Sr., Nicara Winfrey and Maya Winfrey; grandchild, Christopher Winfrey, Jr.; nieces, Phaedra Graham, Monique Graham and Nadia Graham; aunt, Euradell King; devoted friend, Alvie Owens; godson, Ronald Brunson, Jr.; goddaughter, Sho’Lonnie Yancey; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
