Alexis Alexander Obituary

Alexis Bianca Alexander Smith was born to the late Bobby and Ollie Kilgore Alexander in Laurens, South Carolina, at Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood, South Carolina on January 18, 1977. She attended the schools of Laurens County, South Carolina before the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Alexis attended various schools in Duval County, Florida. She played the flute in the school band from 3rd to 9th grade.

She was active in church and youth groups from 4 years old to her teenage years. She was elected President of the Business Leaders of America at Wolfson High School. After graduating from Wolfson, she enrolled in a paralegal program at Florida Community College of Jacksonville. She also studied CTL/Transportation & Logistics at UNF.

She was employed by the following, Bellsouth Telecommunications, Logistics Coordinator at SeaStar Line LLC, Transport Coordinator at Coca Cola, and finally a Team Lead at PNC Mortgage.

She enjoyed reading, music, movies, theater, writing, and charity walks. She was also a member of Legacy Ministries.

Alexis married a local young man, James Smith. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 23, 2000. To this union, our beloved “Jay” was born.

Mid-morning, Thursday, April 24, 2025, Our Father God sent his angels for his beloved Alexis Bianca Alexander Smith. She went home peacefully, her journey is over, her victory won. She is now in his arms along with her father, Bobby.

Alexis (“Bea” to her South Carolina family) leaves to cherish her memories her husband, James Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; children, Airman James “Jay” Smith II of Mountain Home, Idaho and Dajah Green of Jacksonville, Florida; mother, Ollie K. Alexander of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-cousin, Earica A. Cole (Brian) of Tampa, Florida; aunts, Ophelia K. Thomas of Washington, DC, Barbara Jackson (Bobby) of Panama City, Florida, Eara Simpson of Lakeland, Florida and Sheryl Alexander of Orlando, Florida; uncles, William Kilgore of Laurens, South Carolina, Edward Alexander of Bartow, Florida and Dennis Grace of Melbourne, Florida; devoted cousin, Audrey Alexander of Orlando, Florida; adopted family, John and Dorthy Palmer of Jacksonville, Florida; mother-in-law, Annette (Tenny, deceased); brother-in-law, Tenny Smith (Daphne) of Jacksonville, Florida, sister in-law, Sabrina Simmons (Michael) of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous other relatives, coworkers, and friends.

Alexis inspired and encouraged many as they fought cancer on social media and in person. Sleep “Sweet Princess” in peace, you have the VICTORY!!

*We are presently mourning Alexis’ sister-cousin, Mrs. Paula Deeble of Waldorf, Maryland, who passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
