Alice Mae Pearson was born to Daniel Lee Bowman and Lizetta Bowman on December 19, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Douglas Anderson High School in 1959 and four years later in 1963 married the love of her life, Phillip Henry Pearson, at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church on Wishart Street in Jacksonville, Florida.
Alice Mae was a cafeteria worker at Bishop Kenny High School and also served as a day care attendant at Kiddie Carol here in Jacksonville. Being a career-minded woman and having a love for children, Alice Mae later opened the Pearson Family Day Care out of the family home at 2222 Wister Street in Jacksonville, Florida.
Alice Mae found the Lord early in life at Wayman Chapel and served as a stewardess for over 70 years. She also took part in the Do What I Can Club and the Seniors Ministry. Outside of Wayman, Alice Mae was a devoted housewife, and her passions included sewing, baking, painting, and refurbishing furniture.
Alice Mae slept away surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She has finished her race and is in the presence of the Lord who she served faithfully for so many decades. She has received that welcome from Christ Jesus that we all long to hear: “Well done good and faithful servant; enter the joy of the Lord. Alice Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Lee and Lizetta Bowman; and brother, Alonzo Bell.
