Obituary

Alvie “Sonny” Bacon was born March 14, 1937, In Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Albert and Margaret Bacon. He attended the local public schools in Duval County.

Alvie married Mary E Jackson in 1971. He worked in construction for many years owning his own business, A Bacon Concrete. As a young man, Alvie accepted Christ where he attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of New First Corinth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Gage. He helped everyone and loved his family. It wasn’t any challenge he wouldn’t take on when it came them. From pouring a foundation to building a house, He was very creative when it came to his hands. He felt like he could fix anything.

Alvie earned his wings on Saturday, September 9, 2023 where he was surrounded by his loving daughters. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Mary Bacon; parents, Albert and Margaret Bacon; sons, Phillip Everett and Derryl Everett; brother, Albert Bacon, Jr.; sisters, Joan Green and Evelyn Flynn; and grandson, Demetrius Fluellen.

Sonny leaves to cherish his loving memories to his children, Margaret Hall (Winston), Marletha Bacon, Maleya Bacon, Curvis Jackson (Lisa), Dante’ “Marchet” Jackson (Vincent), Charilyn Rapley (Calvin), and Cheryl Grace; brother, John Bacon; sisters, Thelma Badger, Caretta Stewart, Margaret “Shirley” Bartley, Hazel Moses (Felton), Jean Gilmore (Nolan), Carolyn Bentley (Charles) and Jerldene Powell; grandchildren, Sunita, Sedric, Shelvia, Malik, D’Ana, Answar, Alexander, Anaiah, Brittany, Toushika, Danita, Vinecia (Lazavier), Valarie, Vinessa, Chaise (Alethea), Cahaiya, Chelitta, Cheniese, BreAnna, Phillip Todd, Phillip Tyrell, Antoine, and Amari; great grandchildren amongst them, Carter, Sedric Jr, Ayla Symone, Jalisia, Ajah, Joshua, Christon, Christopher, Aleya, and Adonis; godchildren, Stacey Funchess, David Williams, Jamell Bryan; and a host of  nieces, nephews, and cousins.
