Andrew James Curry was born on December 13, 1945 to both Woodie Bell Clark-Curry and Charlie Curry in Abbeville, Georgia. He received his high school diploma from Cornerstone Academy.
Curry as he was known by his family and friends retired the Naval Shipyard. Of course, he continued to work with helping others with duties of mechanics, moving, yard work, painting, renovations and transportation. There was nothing that Curry could not or would not do to help and support others to get them motivated. His favorite words “if a man do not work, he do not eat.”
He believed in God and he knew the scriptures very well. He was extremely honest and went strictly by the book. He loved to fish and won many trophies. He enjoyed traveling on the road because he was always “out of town.” He was a great checker player and taught many family, friends and acquaintances how to play. He enjoyed his free time at the Mary L. Singleton Senior Center in Jacksonville, Florida where he made new friends and fellowship with old ones.
Curry was a simple man that did a whole lot for others but did not like the spotlight. He was known for his hilarious joke telling that made everyone laugh.
Curry left his love ones on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was preceded in death with his parents, Woodie Bell Clark-Curry and Charlie Curry; and siblings, Charlene Curry, Ruth Murray and Walter Curry. Curry touched numerous of lives and he loved everyone.
Andrew leaves to cherish his only beloved daughter, Shirley Renee Curry; son, Patrick Brown; his siblings, Ellis Curry, Bobbie Simpo, Henderson Curry (Regina), Carlton Curry, Charles Curry (Terry), Anthony Curry, Angela Witherspoon (Anthony), Kevin Curry (Tamisha), Linda Bennett, Beverly Winters, Brenda Nichols, and Gail Baker; special friends, James Staley, Clarence, Van and Mary; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He leaves behind his daughter’s and her loving mother, Annie Ruth Jackson and his stepmother, Earline Curry.
Curry’s legacy and love will never be forgotten. His famous quotes “if you listening while you talking, you will learn something.” “I might not know how to play chess but I know how to move.” “You can learn something from a dummy.”
