Annie B. Stephens

Annie B. Stephens, born on January 18, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. Annie was a loving, caring, and God-fearing woman who touched the lives of many. Annie graduated from Matthew W. Gilbert High School in the Class of 1957. She worked diligently as an employee at McDaniel Photo Lab.

Annie's faith was an integral part of her life. She was dedicated to her church and local community. She was baptized at a young age at Little Rock Baptist Church. Annie was a devoted Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Camel Missionary Baptist Church from 1975 to 1996. Additionally, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, active Golden Ministry member, and led Vacation Bible School for many years at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

In addition to her church involvement, Annie enjoyed serving the youth. She served as a Foster Grandparent in the Duval County School System and most importantly cared for the youth on Spearing Street by carpooling them to church, sharing meals, and providing a smile and a big hug. 

Annie is survived by her beloved children, Marquita Howard (Antonio) and Troy Stephens; grandchildren, Christina Howard, Khiera Patten, Chelsea Brooks, Chanice Howard, Trashawn Stephens, and Parris Stephens; great-grandchildren, Naomi Howard, Nyla Brooks, and Nia Anne Brooks. She also leaves behind a host of other loving family members, church family, and many sorrowing friends. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie D. Stephens; parents, Charlie and Mamie Davis; and siblings, Willie Davis and Willie Stewart.

Annie B. Stephens will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
