Anthony Gill Brown was born on March 9, 1956 to the late Willie James and Annie Mae Brown. He was the fifth child born to this union. He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He was affectionately known as “Tony, Bubba and Naybay.” He was preceded in death and reunited with Willie James Brown and Charlie Brown.
Anthony graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School class of 1974. He was the best all around football player (#22) as he played several positions. He also played a variety of sports and was a huge Washington Redskins Fan.
Anthony’s Christian walk began at New Shiloh Holiness Church, St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church and New Testament of the Redeem. His current membership where he was a faithful, loyal and dedicated member of Temple of Praise Church of God in Christ.
Anthony was a laborious worker. He began working at the age of 10 with his father and brothers with Brown’s Construction. He spent 18 years as a Tire Manager with Crowley Maritime. His final employment place for 22 years was with Patriot Rail as Chief Shop Steward.
Anthony leaves precious and fond memories to his high school sweetheart who was a loyal and faithful wife, Harriett Brown; children, Anthony Brown (Ceira), LaShay Harris (Curtis) and Darrion Brown (NasShaunette); grandchildren, Darnecia Brown (Dee), Sade Garnett, Amari Brown (Lump), Shamya Chinn (Toot), Marcedes Whitworth, Tarence Whitworth, Tanaya Harris, Anthony Brown Jr. (Lil Amp), Vanessa Brown, Israel Brown and Curtis Harris Jr. (Buddy); great granddaughter, Skhi Garnett; mother Annie Mae Brown; brothers, James Brown, Larry Brown (Barbara), Vernon Brown (Sandra), Bruce Brown (Jamie) and Darryl Brown (Deborah); sisters, Michelle Hughes (Ralph) and Debra Williams; mother-in-law, Geneva Watson; special friends, Robert and Jackie Collins, Victor McFalls, Charles and Katrina Slocumb, Alfred and Charlotte Ousley, Kathy Jolly and Theresa Johnson; special nephew, Kristian King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
