On Thursday morning November 6, 2025 Anthony Roosevelt Cooper peacefully began his home going Journey. He was preceded in death by one son, Terrence Straughter; one sister, Debbie Cooper; and one brother, Lance Cooper.
Anthony was born October 20, 1948 to the late Roosevelt Cooper, Jr. and Mary Lee Cooper in Jacksonville, Florida. Anthony graduated from Douglas Anderson High School in 1967. Upon graduation he worked at several places and ultimately became a Truck driver working at Virginia Paper Company, Gemini Transportation and Grimes Logistics.
Anthony was well known in the community with many friends. He was a devoted husband, loving father, brother, uncle and a true friend. He touched the lives of numerous people and will truly be missed and cherished in our hearts forever.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mercita Cooper; six children, Kinaberly Sauls (Alex), August Cooper- Randolph (Lemerell), Dominique Nettles (Jay), Jason Cooper, Greg Cooper, and Antione Cooper; nineteen grandchildren, Jason Jr, Jamel, Ira, Laizhane, Anthony, Jayden, Ke’von, Ay’Shon, Astacia, Sakai, Sean, Tristan, Neona, Noah, Kinslee,Terrence Jr, Mhleek, Allanah and Aria; five great grandchildren, Leilani, Shane, April, Kaleb and Terrence; two brothers, Barry Cooper (Chris) and Dana Cooper (Jackie); three sisters, Iris Cooper Green, Renea Watson (James) and Sheila Cooper-Canty (Sumner); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including a devoted friend Robert “Bobby” Pitts.
