Anthony Lavell Rhodes was born April 30,1967 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Johnny Rhodes and Carolynne Tremble. He was the eldest of six children. Anthony attended Paxon Senior High School in Jacksonville, Florida and continued his education at Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, Florida which he received a Firefighter certification.
Anthony was known for his contagious smile which caught the attention of his best friend Ora in 1993. This lifelong friendship and love continued throughout their marriage for over thirty years. As he loved and honored his wife, he also dedicated his life to the Lord and other ministries which included Prison Ministry, Outreach Ministry, UnSaved Husband Ministry, Altar Worker and Prayer Line. At the time of his homegoing he was a member of World Harvest Centered Ministries under the leadership Pastor Anton Bronson. Although he loved the Lord and wife, Ora questioned whether secretly the Golden State Warriors was his truest love, and his blood was not red but was Royal Blue. Until his health declined in 2012, he was a dedicated truck driver for Office Depot.
On Thursday September 21, 2023, Anthony obtained his Warriors wings and hit a slam dunk as he won the championship game of eternal life. His course was finished on earth. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Rhodes and Carolynne Tremble; his brother, Derrick Rhodes; and sister, Annette Rhodes.
He leaves to cherish his life and memories, his wife and best friend, Ora L. Rhodes; two sons, Darrell Nichols, Jr. and Duane Nichols, Sr. (Nyesha); two grandsons, Darrell Nichols, III and Duane Nichols, Jr.; two sisters, Katia Smith (Willie), and Kenyatta Walker both from Orlando, FL; one brother, Albert Walker also from Orlando, FL; three uncles, Ludie Smith from Orlando, FL, Wilbert Rhodes and Ricky Tremble both from Jacksonville, FL; four aunts, Mary Reid (Mike) from Orlando FL, Juanita Tremble-Sandlin (Wilbur), Helen Tremble, Lisa Tremble all from Jacksonville, FL; two sisters-in law; twelve brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
