Arthur L. Williams, Sr. was born December 15, 1940 in Anderson City, Georgia. He attended the local schools in Anderson City. He was the eldest of 10 children of Freddie D. Williams, Sr. (who preceded him in death) and mother Essie M. Williams “who resides” in Sylvester, Georgia.
Arthur was the oldest of ten children. His sibling, Evangelist Felissa Williams-Gervin preceded him in death. He has nine surviving siblings, Donna Gardner (Joe), Willie B. Williams, Nita Clyde (Lee), all of Albany, Georgia, Jerry Williams of Maricopa, Arizona, Leroy Williams of Jacksonville, Florida , Johnny L. Williams of Sylvester, Georgia, Catherine (George) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Pastor Willie C. Williams (Essie) of Folkston, Georgia and Pastor Freddie D. Williams of Doerun, Georgia.
In December 1959, Arthur married Bernedia Robinson, who preceded him in death. To this union three children were born. To cherish the many memories are, Avis Bostick (Joseph), Arthur Williams, Jr. and Angela Stewart (Kelvin) all of Jacksonville, Florida. He also has a devoted daughter, Estelle W. Moore of Sylvester, Georgia).
In January 2016, Arthur married, Latanya Beeks Williams of Jacksonville, Florida). He also leaves a stepdaughter, Tashawana Beeks. He was extremely fond of his eight grandchildren, Christopher Williams who preceded him in death, Tiffany Moore of Sylvester, Georgia, Kristopher Williams, Carl Thomas, Jr., Jharod Kelly, Tevin Stewart, Malcolm Williams, and Alexis Williams all of Jacksonville, Florida. He will also be missed by twelve great grandchildren.
For over 50 years, Arthur was a truck driver for many companies, and for five of those years he was an independent driver. He retired from a profession he loved and enjoyed in 2010. Arthur "known as Cigar" mentored and helped find trucking job opportunities for several individuals in the Jacksonville area.
He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was a person who "Never met a stranger" and will also be missed by numerous friends.
