Amir Raphael O’Neal was a brave and beautiful soul who brought light and love to everyone who knew him. Born in Miami, Florida on August 22, 2024, with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), Amir spent his entire life in the NICU. He made it through a major surgery at just four days old, along with several other procedures, with incredible strength and grace, proving that God is still a miracle worker and healer.
Though Amir never came home, he was deeply loved by his family and the amazing medical teams at Holtz Children’s Hospital NICU and everyone who followed his journey. His sweet spirit touched everyone who cared for him, and he brought joy even from his hospital bed-especially when watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
After months of fighting bravely, Amir passed away just one week after being transferred to Wolfson Children’s Hospital. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, love, and light. His life was a miracle and his story is just beginning.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Darreanna Johnson and Adrian O’Neal; his devoted GiGi, LaToya Johnson; grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great-grandparents, Darren Johnson, David Jenkins, Janet Jenkins, Emiless Edwards (Robert); his beloved auntie, Angel Johnson; a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly; and the dedicated doctors, nurses, and supporters who cared for him and followed his journey with love and prayer.
Amir also leaves behind a legacy of strength, hope, and faith that will continue to inspire through the books and projects that will be created in his honor.
