Benny Alexander was born on February 23, 1939 to the late Ben and Leatha Alexander in Monticello, Florida. Between the age of 4 and 5 Benny along with his parents and siblings moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he attended the local schools of Duval County including James Weldon Johnson and Matthew Gilbert High School.
Benny met Marva Denson in the early 1960’s. They were happily united in Holy Matrimony producing three beautiful daughters, Priscilla, Paula and Ramona. He supported his family by working at the Jacksonville Shipyard and in Miami, FL a for the International Longshoreman Union. Benny was an avid reader and sports enthusiast.
Benny Alexander answered the Master’s call on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Leatha Alexander; two brothers, Raymond Alexander and Ernest Alexander; and one sister, Nancy Alexander Dingle.
Benny leaves to cherish to mourn his passing but to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Marva Alexander; children, Priscilla Williams (father, Samuel Williams), Paula Murry (James) and Ramona Alexander; grandchildren, Travis Gibbons, Alex Murray and Alexander Murray; grandniece, Robyn Jackson; sister, Rebecca Walker; uncle, Roscoe Bradley of Miami, Florida; in-laws, Alfred Denson (Geraldine) and Ralph Denson (Willie Lee); niece, Michelle Dingle; nephew, Anthony Presha; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
