Betty Key Obituary

Betty Jean was born on December 28th, 1953 to the union of Henry Corley, Sr. and Gladys Adams Corley.  She attended the local public schools of Duval County.  Betty graduated from William M. Raines High School Class of 1971.  Shortly after graduation Betty married Carl Williams in 1971, and three sons were born to this union, Carl M. Williams Jr., Marquis L. Williams and Gerald L. Williams.  In 1973 she studied and soon after was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness.

Betty and her three sons later moved to Aiken, South Carolina in 1983. While living there she was employed as a caregiver in the state of South Carolina.  She resided there for four years, and continued to be a devout Witness in the Kingdom Hall in Aiken, South Carolina.

Upon returning to Jacksonville, Florida in 1987 Betty continued her work as a caregiver for some time.  She also continued to be a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall currently known as Riverview Kingdom Hall.

Betty was the life of family gatherings.  She spread joy and cheer even when she did not feel well.  Her smile was captivating and her laughter contagious!  She is the QUEEN of our hearts.  Her presence will be missed, but we rest assured that her battle is over.

Betty passed away after a long illness on March 5th, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Corley, Sr. and Gladys A. Corley; and brothers Willie Mack Corley and Henry Corley Jr.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory, husband Eddie Key, Jr.; sons Carl Williams, Marquis Williams and Gerald Williams; 9 grandchildren, Carllisa “Precious” Williams, Sharron Jones, Ky’era Williams, Carl M. Williams II (Cochita), Te’yonna Williams, Kayla Williams, Janiah Williams, Marquis L. Williams, Jr. and her baby boy Lyric Daniels; eight great grandchildren, Jaden, Major, Ja’doire, Jailey, Caden, Zi’yonna, Hasani and Jamal; siblings, Dorothy Lloyd of Aiken, SC, Carolyn Gibbs (Gerald), John Edward Corley and Frank Corley; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Corley; close friends, Edna Pugh, Cheryl Adams, Gloria Mendez, and Barbara Garret; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving friends, and many brothers and sisters in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
