Betty Jean Robinson Conyers was born on June 29, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Johnnie Robinson and Mattie Lee Joyner Robinson. She was educated in the Duval County Public School System and proudly graduated from Matthew William Gilbert High School, Class of 1957. After graduation, Betty Jean moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, to attend Bethune-Cookman College.
Professionally, Betty Jean built a fulfilling and impactful career. She worked at Halifax Hospital, Head Start, and the Educational Development Center in DeLand, Florida. She later joined Bethune-Cookman College (now University) as a Benefits Advisor, where she faithfully served faculty and staff until her retirement. Her kindness, patience, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who worked with her.
She gave her life to Christ at the age of 14 and joyfully rededicated her life in 2024. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort to her. She loved reading and studying the Word of God and found peace and joy in her relationship with the Lord.
In her quiet moments, Betty Jean enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring, and arts and crafts. These simple pleasures reflected her thoughtful nature and her love for creativity and learning.
Above all, Betty Jean cherished her family. She was a devoted mother of eight, and she shared an unbreakable bond with each of her children. Her love was constant, her support unwavering, and her words of wisdom will continue to guide them. Her family meant everything to her, and she took great pride in each generation that followed.
On January 11, 2026, Betty Jean peacefully departed this earthly life. Her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, yet we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Her legacy of love, compassion, faith, and resilience will live on through her children: daughters, Andrea Smith (Clyde), Kavia Medina (Daniel), Eyvette Conyers, and Nodicia Butts (William); sons, Gregory L. Wiggins, Keith Conyers (Robin), Gorricho Conyers (Zandria), and Shay Conyers (Anthony); her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and William Lewis; her aunt, Patsy Tiller; dear friend, Jessie W. Woodard; and her many adored and loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Though she is no longer with us in body, the memory of Betty Jean’s gentle spirit, warm smile, and steadfast love will remain in our hearts forever.
