Mrs. Brenda Elaine Tarver Dix was born to Richard Lee Tarver, Sr. and Edith Walker Tarver on November 29, 1949, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a graduate of William M. Raines Sr. High School, Class of 1968 and affectionately known as “Nani and Mama-D”, professionally known as “Ms. Brenda”, and declared as “Pocahontas” by her high school colleagues.
It was there at William M. Raines Sr. High School that she met her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Mr. Jerrick L. Dix, Sr. This union blessed them with three children, Miriam H. Dix, Deidra L. Dix, and Jerrick L. Dix II. These three grew to parent seven cherished grandchildren, Sierra L. Wilson, Cheyenne S. Wilson, Tamyra Dix, Armani-Dior Wynn, Jerrick L. Dix III, Jerrick L. Dix IV, and Jerrick L. Dix V.
After graduation from Raines, Ms. Brenda began her career as an exceptional customer service professional in various industry establishments, including Montgomery Ward and Flagstar Financial. She also was an asset in the healthcare industry as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She eventually joined, JEA Customer Solutions Center and Headquarters where she became a well-respected and supportive team leader. After 32 years, 8 months, 21 days, 6 hours and 30 seconds, Ms. Brenda retired from JEA! Afterwards, she devoted her love and time as an attentive wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerrick L. Dix, Sr.; and siblings, Linda Tarver Levine, Richard Lee Tarver II, and Sharon Davis.
She is survived by her two sisters, Edith Tarver-Pullins and Theodora Thomas (Eddie, Sr). Ms. Brenda is also survived by a host of loved ones, brother-in-law, Rene Dix; sister-in-law, JoTia Green; godsister, Carla Bridges Jordan; nieces, Tracy Fulton (Ricky), Tina McHenry, Pamela Thomas, and LaTia Vallone (John); nephews, Corey Dix (Angela), Eddie M. Thomas II (Shoranda), Adrian Tarver, Richard Davis, Victor Tarver (Marika), Vincent Tarver, Maurice Howard, and Arlo Chatman; godchildren, Jermaine Whitaker (Mother-Maxine), Trevor Peterson (Mother-Gloria), Megan Hughes, and Briana Hughes; exceptional friends, Mrs. Arwyn Mallory (Abe), Ms. Chandra Richardson, and Ms. Mary West; and an extensive multitude of sorrowing relatives, dear friends, and colleagues.
On Friday, January 16, 2026, Ms. Brenda transitioned to eternal life leaving a legacy of love, loyalty, faith, and family dedication that will be forever remembered by everyone who was blessed to know her.
