Caleb Vincent Smith

Caleb Vincent Smith was born on April 14, 2001, in Jacksonville, Florida to Vincent Smith and Mychelle Swain, who raised him with love, strength, and unwavering support. From a young age, he displayed a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around him.

Whether it was his infectious laughter, his caring nature, or his ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, he was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He attended Duval County Public Schools where he excelled academically and built lifelong friendships. After graduating from William M. Raines High School, he attended and graduated from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University earning his B.S. in Political Science... becoming a third generation graduating RATTLER.

A hardworking and ambitious individual, he pursued a career in Political Science, where his dedication and passion left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. After graduation he embarked upon a career in Early Childhood Education with Duval County Public Schools, and serving as an after-school coach with Communities in Schools where he was affectionately known as Coach C. Smith. He was deeply committed to his work, always striving to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world.

Beyond his professional achievements, Caleb was a man of many passions. He found joy in basketball, fashion, food, and music. Caleb was strong believer in social action and political awareness. He canvassed the streets of Tallahassee to encourage students to vote, worked for state representatives, participated in the one fair wage internship, and sat on multiple panels promoting social justice. His favorite pastime was attending the concerts of his favorite artist NBA Young Boy. More than anything, Caleb was devoted to his family and friends. He cherished his relationships and was a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering support to those who needed him. His love for his close family members, parents, brother, and son.

Caleb is survived by his devoted mother, Mychelle Swain; stepfather, Damian Swain; son, Braxton Smith; brother, Vincent Smith III; grandparents, Freddie and Rosalind McClain, Vincent Smith (Marilyn); uncle, Vamonde Smith (Tiffany); aunt, Vintesha Smith Sanders (Ronterius); cousins, Chloe, Jayce, and Aria; godparents, Dr. Felecia Gaines and Delton Harrison; godsister, Nevaeh Cutler; a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends including, Tracie Morton, Jailen Flagg, Taelor Morton, and Kionnie Bishop.

Caleb was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Smith II, Gwendolyn Smith, and Mitchell Grover, whom we take comfort in knowing welcomed him with open arms. Though the pain of his loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories he left behind.

His spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by his example. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
