Calvin Jerome Dicks, affectionately known to family and friends as “Dirt”, was born on December 29, 1976, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, to his loving parents, the late Laverne Dicks and Isiah Freeman. He fulfilled most of his High School education at Duncan U. Fletcher High School. He loved music of all kinds, especially the old school 90’s. Whether he was binge watching classic Bruce Lee KungFu, and Jean Claude Van Damme flicks, old school Cartoons, or cracking up at Tyler Perry's House of Payne. He knew how to enjoy the good things. It’s no secret that the show’s Calvin was his favorite character, obviously because they shared a name and he loved channeling his inner TV twin, throwing up the deuces and hilariously telling everyone to “Be breezy” as he left.
Throughout his professional journey, Calvin was a dedicated and hard-working employee at both Publix and the Mayo Clinic, before becoming disabled. He found immense joy, community, and spiritual fulfillment through his church affiliation with Baldwin House of Prayer. At the time of his passing, Calvin was happily engaged to the love of his life, his beloved Daniela. On May 9, 2026, Calvin departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
If you knew Dirt, you knew that his favorite way of showing he loved you was through a good laugh. He firmly believed that love wasn’t complete without a bit of humor, an unexpected joke, or a burst of shared laughter. To have known him was to have smiled with him, and his family reminds everyone to keep that joy in their hearts today. As Dirt would always say while throwing up the deuces: “Be Breezy!”.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne Dicks and Isiah Freeman; grandparents, Mary Francis Dicks, Billy Mack Dicks, Lottie Freeman, and Fletcher Freeman, Sr.; aunt, Carolyn Dicks-Jenkins; and uncle, Donell Dicks.
Dirt leaves to cherish his memories, his siblings, Curtis Tyrell Dicks, Tamerin Michelle Dicks-Barnes (Kelvin), and Latifah Ann Dicks; beloved nieces, Zharyieanna N. M. Dicks “Snukaboom” and Genesis M. Dicks “My G”; Beloved fiancée, Daniela; grandparent, Ernest Thomas; aunts and uncles, Susanne Dicks, Billy Dicks, Micheal Dicks, and Jessie Dicks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
