Calvin Ulysses Holmes was born on March 25, 1956 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Wilson Holmes, Sr. and Daisy Mae Tripp Wright. He attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Lee High School.
Calvin enlisted in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge for his service to his county. He was employed at AT&T where he retired after years of dedicated service.
Calvin gave his life to Christ and was a member of Life Through the Spirit Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Gary Denson. He enjoyed playing tennis, bingo, very family oriented, but most of all he was a great caretaker.
Calvin Ulysses Holmes went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Mae Tripp Wright; father, Wilson Holmes, Sr.; brothers, Gary Tripp and Ricky Glover; sisters, Barbara Smith and Jacqueline McCullum.
Calvin leaves to mourn his passing but to cherish his memories, his siblings, Alfred Holmes (Tonya), Cathy Holmes, Wilson Holmes, Jr. (Ruby), Ellen Holmes-West (Calvin), Michael Holmes (Christie), Cynthia Holmes Lewis (Gerald), Lisa McGauley (Jimmy) and Aetnea Golden (Tony); aunts, Essie Neely, Maxine Mann and Alfredo Tripp; special nephews, Minister Bryan Holmes (Jocelyn) and Gary Tripp, Jr.; special nieces, Kenyetta Smith and Chandricka Hines; special names. Aalya Williams, Ayden Williams and Janae Williams; godsister, Linda Blunt (Marion); special cousin, Eunice Mann; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
