Charlene Murphy Obituary

Charlene Mariah Murphy (Pressley) was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She peacefully slept away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the age of sixty-nine. Charlene was born on August 10, 1956, to Annie and Jacob Pressley, Sr.

From early childhood, she attended the public schools of Jacksonville, Florida, graduating from Old Stanton High School. Charlene began her spiritual journey in childhood at Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church and continued her walk of faith into adulthood.

In 2020, after twenty-five years of dedicated service, Charlene retired from Coach Leatherware (Tapestry). She was a true football fan and proudly cheered on her beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Charlene’s legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her son, Micah Goodman (Deirdre); her cherished granddaughter, Mariah Goodman; and her devoted partner, Walter Goodman, Sr. In addition to her immediate family, Charlene is survived by her siblings, Jacob Pressley, Jr., Barbara Pressley, Marcedea Pressley and Wanda Brabham; her nephew, Reginold Brabham, Jr.; her bonus family, Walter Goodman, Jr. (Dyana), Walter Goodman, III, Shamar Goodman, Tatiayana Goodman and Kamaya Goodman; her goddaughter, O’mara Ramsey; her dear friend, Orvett Lawrence; and a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, and her spouse, Frank Murphy. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, Charlene will be remembered for her strength and resilience. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide all those fortunate enough to have known her.
