Life Brand New: Charles was born on February 4, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida to Willie and Zelean Johnson.
Growing Pains: He received his early childhood education surrounded by lots of family and friends in and around the Milcoe Road and Cosmo family communities. His formal education in the Duval County Public School System.
Spreading His Wings: He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age under the leadership of the late Elder Zelean Johnson, his mother. Later in life he became a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church (today known as the New Mount Zion of Lone Star Church). He was not a man to stand still but extended himself to many new and exciting opportunities. He was a true outdoorsman, became an accomplished musician and community activist. He put his talents to work as a guitarist in the church choir as well as a member of the United Brothers In Christ. While living in Mississippi for a period of time, he was a small business owner, became President of a local branch of the NAACP and helped to bring about many necessary changes.
Cherished Memories: On November 29, 1973, he married the love of his life, Lynda Patrick, of Forest, Mississippi. For fifty-two years, she was his ever-lasting love and constant companion. He leaves two sons, Kelvis and Gerald; three beautiful daughters, Zelina, Yolanda and Monique; a brother, Willie Lee, Sr. all of Jacksonville, Florida; a mother-in-law 93 years of age; two brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law all of Forest, Mississippi; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 24, 2025. His favorite saying, “Amen, Amen, Amen”.
