Charles Varnedoe was born on May 4, 1943 to the proud parents of George and Mable Varnedoe in McIntosh, Georgia. She attended the local schools and went to Jones College.
Charles was employed with the United States Army for 10 years. He spent 25 years in the Army Reserve (146th Battalion) and 30 years with the City of Jacksonville as a General Foreman on the street and highways.
Charles answered the Master’s call quietly on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, George Varnedoe; mother, Mable Varnedoe; brother, Leroy Varnedoe; and sister, Ophelia Varnedoe.
Charles leaves to mourn his passing but to cherish his memories, his wife, Gail Varnedoe; children, Cassandra Varnedoe-Knight (Tyree), Charles Varnedoe, Jr. and Patrice Varnedoe; grandchildren, Harachio, Celisa, Harachia, Tionna and Victor (devoted grandson); great grandchildren, Michal, Jamaris, Kemari, E’Yane and Harachio, Jr.; siblings, George Varnedoe, Jr., Sammie Joe Varnedoe, Clarence Varnedoe, Ozetta Jackson, Earlene Master and Mable Ellison; mother-in-law, Bernice Griffin; in-laws, Rev. Jessie Griffin, Jr. (Lannie), Gary Clark, Harold Clark, Vonsteven Griffin (Melissa), Gerald Griffin, Cassantry Griffin, Jeanetta Wilcox (Matthew), Shelia Terry (Calvin), Lillie Mae Meadows and Gloria Rodgers; special and devoted goddaughter, Tonya Martin; special friends, Clarence Benham and Jake Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
