Charmayne Turner Fields was born on September 13, 1957, in Jacksonville, Florida. From an early age she carried a heart full of love, strength, and compassion for others. She dedicated her life to serving people, protecting families, and supporting those in need.
Charmayne valued education and personal growth. She earned her associate degree in Sociology from Florida Junior College, graduating with honors, and later received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of North Florida. She continued her education by earning a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership from Walden University. At the time of her passing, she was pursuing a Doctorate in Public Administration at Walden University.
For more than 30 years, Charmayne served as a Child Protective Investigator with the Florida Department of Children and Families, dedicating her career to protecting children and advocating for families. Her work was more than a job; it was her calling.
Charmayne was a woman of faith who loved God and valued her church community. She also found great joy in cooking and bringing her family together. Her kitchen was always filled with love, laughter, and caring for everyone around her.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Charmayne Turner Fields peacefully transitioned from this life. Though our hearts are broken, her love, strength, and legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. She was preceded in death by Bernard Fields; her mother, Evelyn Dunlap; her father, Samuel Dunlap; and her brothers, Victor Dunlap, Arthur James Dunlap, and Curtis Bernard Dunlap, Sr.
Charmayne leaves to cherish her memory her children, Bernadette Fields and Brendale Fields; her goddaughters, Sheena Sample and Guibriel Sample; her grandchildren, Bre’Auna Harvey, Jeffery Whitmore, Blessing Whitmore, Kennedy Everett, Brielle Small, Blossom Johnson, Bethany Small, and Brooklyn Jones; her siblings, Peter Dunlap, Samuel Dunlap, and Sandra Hamright; her sisters-in-law, Linda Dunlap and Marylin Dunlap; her god sister and best friend, Betty Cotton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving relatives and friends.
