Claresa Morton Obituary

Claresa G. Morton was born November 19th, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida 1 of 4 children of the late James and Marie Adams. She attended the local Duval county schools and graduated from William M. Raines Senior Highschool 1st graduating class of 1965.

Mrs. Morton retired from State Farm after 19 years of service. After her retirement she continued her service as the full-time secretary and church clerk of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 plus years. Claresa was a faithful member of St. Thomas for 60 plus years where she sung in the mass choir, served on the usher board, the pastors aid ministry, and she also was a member of district 6.

Claresa loved her family and helping those in need. She was a blessing to anyone she could help. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

On Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 73 Mrs. Claresa answered her Saviors call and transcended from labor to reward. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Adams; her son, Darrell J. Morton; her sister, Joyce A. George; her brother, Norman Hollis; and grandsons, Ja’Varius Morton and Ra’Kwon Backey.

Left to cherish the sweet and loving memories of Claresa is her beloved husband of 50 years, James N. Morton Jr.; daughter, Pamela M. Morton; step daughter, Sharon Taylor (Vincent); grandchildren, Jarvis, Damon, Darrell, Courtney and Jabri; brother, Emmett Hollis (Lucille); brothers-in-law, Dale Morton (Tonya) and Wayne Morton; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends. Among them special friends, Deborah Jewell and Naomi Tookes and her god sister, Evelyn Sims.
