Clyde Beatty Franklin was born on November 12, 1938 in Coahoma County, Mississippi to the late Jordan and Annie Mae Franklin. Raised as a Christian by his parents, he accepted Christ as a child at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Jonestown, Mississippi.
Clyde was the third of ten children born to Jordan and Annie Mae Franklin. Clyde was educated in the Coahoma County school system in Clarksdale, Mississippi. After graduating high school, he attended the Coahoma County Community College. From there, he proceeded to serve his country and was a graduate of the Recruit Training Command at the United States Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois in 1961.
Clyde worked at Harvest House Restaurant and the St. Regis Paper Company before working with his brother, Roy Franklin at his gas station – Roy’s Shell Station. They later opened Sherwood Auto Parts and a convenience store, serving the Sherwood area for more than fifty years.
Clyde married Jackie Johnson in 1981. The Lord blessed their union with one daughter, Regina Renee Franklin. He was also blessed with two bonus children, Kattie Clark and Bernard Clark.
On the early morning of Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Me Sun Hospice and Palliative Care in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Clyde transitioned this life peacefully and entered eternal rest at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; five siblings, Jordan Franklin, Jr., Mark Mason Franklin, Roy Lee Franklin (Barbara), Maxine Fisher and Melvin D. Franklin; and his bonus son, Bernard Clark.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his daughter, Regina Franklin; bonus daughter, Kattie Harvey (Sedrick), his cherished grandchildren, Duan Day, II, Brooklyn Day and Payton Day; bonus grandchildren, Saniya Harvey, Shane Harvey, T’Keisha Williams, Jazline Clark and Cortney Clark; aunt, Bernice Paraham; sisters, Gloria G. Franklin and Annie M. Furlow (Michael); brothers, Major G. Franklin and Robert Muhammad; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
