Coach Dennis Stewart Bartley

Dennis Stewart Bartley was born March 16, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Isiah and Rosalee Bartley.

A graduate of Sandalwood High School. He attended University of Central Missouri where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education. 

Dennis worked for Sandalwood High School as a Physical Education Teacher. He was the head wrestling coach, an assistant football coach as well as coached for other sports related fields. He worked for Landmark for one year to assist with the opening of their football program.  He retired from Sandalwood High School in 2016. When he retired, Sandalwood football field was dedicated to him in his honor.  He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church where he served in the choir and he was a member of United Brothers in Christ.  You could often find him either fishing or working in the yard. Dennis was a “true philanthropist,” who donated funds and his time to various organizations. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Isiah L. Bartley; his mother, Rosalee W. Bartley; and his brother, Artice C. Bartley.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife of 32 years, Stephanie L. Bartley; son, Joseph I. Bartley; brothers, Josiah Bartley (Ann) and V. Davey Bartley; brothers-in-law, Corderal Brown (Marvette) and Arnell Brown (Nicole); sister-in-law, LaTanya Hendrix (Carl); uncles, Leon Demps (Dorothy) and Earl Demps; aunt, Ernestine Brooks; godson, Lamarr Mczeke; goddaughter, Lashay Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
