Courtney Cortez Burgess was born on February 9, 1988 to John Lindsey and the late Gwendolyn Burgess in Tifton, Georgia. She attended the local schools of Duval Country, graduating from Andrew Jackson High School Class of 2007.
Courtney was a stay at home mom. She enjoyed traveling with her family, hosting dinner parties, going to the Jacksonville Jaguars games and attending church at Oak Cliff Bible Church under the leadership of Pastor Clifford Johnson.
Courtney quietly answered the Master’s call on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn Burgess; grandmother, Clara Bustamante; her nana, Edora Byrd; grandfather, George W. Lindsey; and grandfather, Benard Byrd.
Courtney leaves to cherish her memories, her fiancé, Ricky Conaway; children, McKayla Stewart (12), James Stewart (8), Rickayla Conaway (4) and Ricky Conaway, Jr. (4); father, John Lindsey, Sr.; siblings, Kedria Burgess, Shanese Burgess, Javaries Byrd, Jessica Jeffrey, Seaquoyah Taylor, John Lindsey, Jr. and Chris Rivers; 17 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, church family and many sorrowing friends.
