Danny Truitt Curry

Danny Truitt Curry was born on February 20, 1955 to Geraldean Davis and Alfred Oglesby in Hartwell, Georgia. He attended the local schools and furthered his education at Savannah State College receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology.

After graduating from Savannah State College, he later took a job with AT&T where he retired after 40 years of employment. Danny continued his education and training in the AT&T Corporate Education Training and the Western Electric Continuing Education Program where he received several prominent awards and outstanding recognition.

In 1980, Danny completed course at Clemson University and earned a certificate in Micro Computers. In 1989, Danny was awarded a certificate from AT&T in Data Structures and Algorithms in the C Language. Later in the winter of 1990, Danny was presented with an “Individual Performance Award (IPA) for converting the International SESS with Command and Reports Manual Source to a multimedia standardized document.” This was featured in an article title, “Hats off to Dan Curry.”

The United Way of Forsyth County recognized Danny by presenting him with a “You Make A Difference Award”. Danny was awarded a Patriotic Service Award from the United States Department of the Treasury in May 1992. AT&T presented Danny with an Attendance award for perfect attendance in 1993 and 1994.

Danny went on to achieve a Trailblazers award in November 1995. In April 2000 he received a certification for completing the Cisco Partner ICM/NAM Software Development and support Curriculum. Throughout his successful career as a computer programmer Danny received numerous certificates of appreciation and other awards. There is no way to highlight his professional accomplishments than to say, “Hats Off to Dan Curry.”

Danny Truitt Curry made his eternal transition on Friday, January 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Oglesby; and father who raised him, Tommy Elbert Curry.

Danny leaves to mourn his passing but to cherish his memories, his children, Antonio Holbrooks (Chondella) and Brandi Moore (Chris); grandchildren, Tay’Sean Holbrooks, Devares Holbrooks, Victoria Martin, Mason Moore and Matthew Moore; mother, Geraldean Davis; siblings, Anthony Davis, Paul Davis, Joseph Davis, Cheryl Curry, Eric Curry (deceased), Randell Curry, Sandra Curry, Wanda Cody, Gregory Oglesby (deceased) and Mickey Oglesby (deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
