Deacon Darnell Leon Bows was born on November 18, 1952 to Charlie and Irene Bows in Harlem, New York. He was baptized at a young age and continued his faith throughout his life. He was educated in the schools of Brooklyn, New York.
Later, Darnell met his first love Sheila Lomax, the mother of his four children Kevin, Kamora, Katrina and Kendall. After relocating to Jacksonville, Florida, he met and married Wanda Gayle Britten Bows.
Darnell was a faithful member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church for many years. Deacon Bows, was a devoted servant of the Lord, faithfully dedicated his life to Friendship Primitive Baptist Church. He served humbly and with distinction as Trustee, Deacon, and Church Drummer, always using his gifts to glorify God and uplift His people.
Known for his steady rhythm on the drums and his steady walk with Christ, he was a pillar of strength and encouragement to the congregation. With a heart for service, Darnell ensured that communion was brought faithfully each month to the sick and shut-in, reminding them that they were never forgotten and always part of the body of Christ. His life was a true testament to his faith, his family, and his church, and he leaves behind a legacy of service, music, and love.
Darnell worked for many years in the real estate industry. He served in various capacities such as maintenance manager, rental property manager and owner of a home repair business, DLB Services.
When not proclaiming the Gospel or serving his church, Darnell cherished spending time with his family, creating lasting memories rooted in love and faith. His life was a true testament to devotion, service, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Darnell was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Irene Bows; Willie Sorrye, Sheila Lomax, Gayle Bows and special aunt, Mary Curtis.
Darnell leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Kevin Lomax, Kamora Corprew (Anthony), Katrina Lomax, and Kendall Lomax; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Louise Chappel, Janet Moss, Charlene McGriff (Willie) and Gregory Bows (Sharrett); a special aunt, Mabel Kimble; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
