Darrell was born on October 16, 1953, and raised in Sacramento, California. He was raised by his mother, Avis Jefferson, and his stepfather, William Jefferson, both have preceded him in death.
Darrell grew up loving and serving the Lord. He was baptized at Shiloh Baptist church in Sacramento, California. He attended that church for many years and devoted his time to numerous ministries until he found his passion in singing. Singing in the choirs was his passion, and he often sang in more than one at the church.
In 2002, Darrell found the love of his life, Greer Daniel. They got married in October 2004. They started their new life by attending a new church. They became members of Faith Fellowship Community Church in 2006. Both Darrell and Greer for their passion and used their gifts at this church. Darrell was able to sing once again in the chorus. In 2009, Darrell was ordained and became a Deacon at Faith Fellowship, and had a Deacon’s heart of caring and love for everyone he met until his passing.
Darrell moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2019. He struggled with this decision, he had lived never lived outside of Sacramento, that was all he knew, but he knew when the Lord said move, you become obedient. Darrell's first mission in Jacksonville was to find a church home where he could sing. He found First Timothy and became active before becoming a member. He loved First Timothy and First Timothy loved him. He came to realize that moving to Jacksonville was the plan God had for him.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of twenty years, Greer Williams; his sister, Karen Freeman; his brother, Bill Jefferson (Connie); his sister-in-law, Michelle Lee (Patrick); godchildren, Marquishia, Freeman, and Karmalita; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowful friends. Darrell and his wife are paw parents to Sienna Williams, their adorable puppy, who misses him every day.
