Dozier Joyner, Jr. was born April 7, 1932, to Dozier Joiner, Sr. and Naomi Joiner in Jacksonville, Florida and he went home to be with his heavenly Father on June 7, 2022 at the age of 90.
Dozier was the eldest of six children, he received his education in the public schools of Duval County in Jacksonville, Florida. He later served in the United States Armed Forces, where he received an honorable discharge. He then became employed with multiple upstanding companies in the Jacksonville, Florida area, finally retiring in transportation logistics as a commercial truck driver. His passions became working in his yard, taking walks and riding motorcycles with his beloved pastor.
Dozier was a strong man of faith. who dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Greenland, Florida where he remained a faithful member for many years. He later moved his membership to Julington Missionary Baptist Church in Bayard, Florida currently under the pastorate of Reverend N. Jerome McClain, Sr. He served in many positions including Chairman of the deacon board until illness prevailed.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Pauline Joyner; two sons, Gregory Joyner and Edward Joyner; and daughter, Deborah Ann Joyner.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Gail Bradford, two grandsons, Ketoe Joyner and Henry Bradford, Jr.; two granddaughters, Precious Jones and DeShawn Manning; four sisters, Lillia Mae Brooks, Juanita Montgomery, Altamese Belle (Reverend Anthony Belle) and Aldora Yvonne Staples (Rev. Thomas Staples); one brother, Leroy Joiner; and host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
