Deaconess Macy Ann Williams was born to the late Sonny Smith and Lillie Mae Johnson on June 28, 1937 in Hinesville (Liberty County), GA. She attended the Public Schools in Liberty County.
Upon locating to Callahan, she joined Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership/pastorage of the Late Rev. C. W. Whitten. Later, until the leadership/pastorage of the Late Pastor Emeritus Rev. C. J. Brown. While at Greater Mt. Pleasant, she was a faithful and loyal member. She attended Sunday School, worked on the kitchen committee, a member of the senior choir, President of the Deaconess Board, and worked wherever she was needed.
She was married to the Late Deacon Lawrence Williams, Sr. and to this union five children were born, Lawrence, Jr., Dorothy, Louis, Barbara, and Sharon. She was blessed with a stepdaughter Joyce. Deacon Lawrence passed in November 1986.
She was an employee of Nassau County School Board, where she worked in the cafeteria as a cook at Pine Forest Community School and later, she retired from the Callahan Middle School. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking, and talking about Jesus Christ, her Savior.
Later, she met and married Brother Robert Chaires in 2002. She was blessed with more stepchildren Jennifer, Carol, and Robert, Jr. They moved their membership to True Believers Church of God By Faith, Callahan, FL under the leadership/pastorage of Pastor Bryon Ramseur.
Deaconess Macy answered her Master call on Monday, November 9, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sonny Smith and Lillie Mae Johnson; children, Barbara, Dorothy Mae and Louis Williams; brothers, Johnny, Charlie, Willie, Junior; and sisters, Hattie, Lois, and Ruby.
She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Robert Chaires of 18 years; children, Lawrence, Jr., Joyce, Barbara, Sharon, Juanito and Antonio (raised as her sons); stepchildren Jennifer, Carol and Robert, Jr.; grandchildren, Dawayna and Dakari; siblings, Delores, Myrtle Ann, Anthony, Michael, and Annie; in-laws, Roney, Patricia, Ellen and Caldonia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
Special Thanks to everyone that gave Macy Ann extra care during her sickness, but especially Aretha Brown, Dorothy Hanks, and her niece Tangie. We say, “Thank You”.
